Get Started in Social Media
Those actively involved in social media have come to see it as second nature. Checking Twitter nowadays (for those of you on Twitter) is like checking e-mail. Especially now with the multitude of third-party Twitter applications it is easy to stay connected and track your social media interactions via trackbacks, pingbacks, linkbacks, etc.
However, as a recent article in the Wall Street Journal showed us, it’s not all young 20- and 30-somethings that are technologically savvy. Every generation can figure out how to make it work for them. Social media is still a new realm that business owners, marketers, executives, entrepreneurs (you get the idea) are figuring out and trying to make work for their company, whatever the size or industry.
One idea that many business owners are finding out and clueing into is that people are buzzing about their brand, company, employees, and products, whether they are part of the conversations or not. And, as any advertiser will tell you, any message received by the consumer, sent out by the company or not, is associated with that brand and becomes part of that consumer’s perception.
How, then, can you take advantage of the buzz around your company?
- Take advantage of free monitoring tools. They can help you gain insights as to what is important to your customers, what their praises and complaints are, and how you can take advantage of this new medium to add value.
- Hire a consultant. This is their specialty. Wouldn’t you want to trust the specialists?
- Hire an agency. Agencies can help you manage your interactions in social media and position yourselves online as strongly as you already position yourself offline.
Above all, keep in mind these 3 Key Words: Listen, Analyze, and Interact. And send us a message on Twitter @Synthesio.
