Synthesio (Get Demo at Synthesio) already packs an impressive array of interactive data visualizations and reports atop its mountain of social listening and influencer identification data. Now the enterprise social data platform is expanding its business reporting capabilities even further with the acquisition of Bunkr.

Bunkr is a French startup founded in 2011 as a more modern, customizable alternative to Microsoft PowerPoint ($8.25 Per User Per Month with Annual Commitment at Microsoft 365 for Business) . Over the past few years, the free app has amassed $1.4 million in funding and accrued more than 150,000 users. The company shifted to a business-to-business (B2B) model in 2016 and released an application programming interface (API) to help businesses like Synthesio automate report creation. Synthesio liked the Bunkr platform so much, the company bought it. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Bunkr's B2B pivot is the key to this deal. The revamped report-building platform is designed to display interactive content and data visualizations from any data source, and Synthesio gathers data from countless social sources on a global scale. According to Synthesio, the company expects to launch a beta integration with a handful of select customers by the end of Q1 2017.

Synthesio's goal for the Bunkr technology is the ability to generate one-click social intelligence reports that populate automatically based on Synthesio's global data filters. The reports will also be customizable. Beyond the beta integration, the company revealed that by the end of Q2, it will release a "Gold version" of the new reporting capabilities to its entire client base including additional features such as single sign-on (SSO), fully customizable displays, and scheduled email delivery.

Greg Roth, Synthesio's Vice President of Global Marketing, told PCMag the acquisition is "a complete game changer. Bunkr's technology will transform our clients' entire idea of what a reporting deliverable should look like. I've never seen a tool that makes it so easy to produce dynamic and stunning analytics visuals."

Bunkr will no longer exist as a standalone platform. Users have until March 31 to download and save their work before the free app is shut down.
